Largest Cities by Population
Riverside is the county’s largest city, with an estimated 313,676 residents in 2023. Moreno Valley follows with 208,289 residents, while Corona has 157,005. These are the only three cities in the county with populations above 150,000 in the 2023 estimates.
Several other cities form a closely grouped second tier. Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, and Jurupa Valley each have populations above 100,000. Menifee and Murrieta are particularly close in size, with estimated populations of 110,034 and 109,998. Temecula follows at 108,899, while Jurupa Valley has 104,983 residents.
Population Across Riverside County Cities
Population levels differ substantially throughout the county. Indio and Hemet each have close to 90,000 residents, while Perris, Lake Elsinore, and Eastvale fall between roughly 69,000 and 79,000. Beaumont, San Jacinto, Cathedral City, and Palm Desert each have more than 50,000 residents based on the 2023 estimates.
Smaller incorporated communities remain an important part of Riverside County’s municipal landscape. Cities including Blythe, Rancho Mirage, Calimesa, Canyon Lake, and Indian Wells each have fewer than 20,000 residents. Indian Wells is the smallest incorporated city in the county by the figures shown, with an estimated population of 4,774.
